Short phrases in 2/4 with a short rest in the second bar, like a fiddle tune. Count through the rest so you come back in on time.
Practice itStuck playing the same phrases? Pick a random rhythm and solo using only that for a chorus.

1
One note first
Play the rhythm on a single note until it feels easy. Get the timing right before you think about pitches.
-
2
Sing it first
Sing or scat the rhythm along with the click. Once you can sing it in time, it's much easier to play.
-
3
Chord tones only
Keep the rhythm and only use notes from the chord. Then try the scale, then add some chromatic notes.
-
4
Over a tune you know
Put on a practice track or a looped video and solo with only this rhythm for a whole chorus.
-
5
Call and response
Turn on Call & response. The trainer plays the rhythm, then you play it back with your own notes.
-
6
Move it over
Use Shift the rhythm to start it half a beat or a quarter beat later. The same rhythm in a new place sounds like a new idea.
-
7
Slow, then faster
Start at a tempo that feels easy and turn on Speed up. Your fastest tempo is saved in your practice log.
-
8
Mix two rhythms
Switch between this rhythm and a different one every two bars.
-
9
Write a melody
Write a short melody using this rhythm and play it in a few keys. Save it as a sheet if you want to keep it.

Take it from a record
When you hear a rhythm you like in a solo, make it as a new rhythm and it's saved to My rhythms.
